About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Temporary Finance Officer to join our busy and supportive school finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to ensuring robust financial processes within an educational setting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Trust's financial operations, ensuring compliance with procurement procedures and delivering value for money across all purchasing activity.
Key Responsibilities
Assess purchase orders for best value prior to processing, making recommendations to the Finance Manager where appropriate.
Collate and process orders and invoices for the Trust, ensuring all required authorisations are obtained from the appropriate budget manager in line with Trust procurement procedures.
Utilise digital finance systems, including a purchasing portal or IRIS Purchasing module, to process transactions efficiently and accurately.
Resolve supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.
Liaise with suppliers to request and process credit notes where necessary.
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (school or public sector experience desirable).
Strong understanding of procurement processes and financial controls.
Experience using digital purchasing systems (experience with IRIS Financials/Purchasing would be advantageous).
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
The ability to communicate effectively with staff, budget holders, and external suppliers.
A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
