About The Company:
An established organisation with a strong operational footprint, our client is seeking to appoint an experienced tax professional to join its finance function. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a broad and commercially important tax remit within a supportive environment.
The Role:
We are looking for a Part-Time Tax Manager to join our client’s finance team, based in Mid Kent. Working 21 hours per week, this is a senior, autonomous position offering a generous salary and benefits package. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, overseeing the group’s tax compliance, reporting and strategy. While the main emphasis will be on direct tax, the role also provides exposure to VAT, PAYE, customs duties and SDLT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the preparation, review and submission of corporation tax returns, including associated records and R&D tax credit claims.
- Managing VAT, PAYE and other indirect tax compliance requirements.
- Supporting customs processes, including liaison with clearing agents regarding duties, VAT payments and compliance.
- Taking ownership of interim and year-end tax provision calculations, disclosures and audit requirements under IFRS.
- Producing corporation tax forecasts and budgets.
- Maintaining and developing tax governance policies, systems and procedures.
- Identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Providing clear, practical tax advice to senior management and the wider business.
- Monitoring relevant legislative and regulatory changes, assessing their impact and coordinating with HMRC and external advisers where required.
Desirable Skills:
- ACA, ACCA and/ or CTA qualified.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation, HMRC filing requirements and tax reporting.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and the interaction between tax and financial reporting.
- Significant corporate tax experience gained in practice or an in-house environment.
- Experience of preparing tax computations, provisions and statutory disclosure notes for organisations of comparable scale.
- Strong stakeholder-management, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commercially minded, highly organised and able to explain complex tax matters clearly to non-specialists.
