Description:
I am looking for a reliable, caring and respectful Personal Care Assistant to support me with my personal care needs, daily routines and social activities. The role involves working flexibly across the week, including weekends, with current support generally needed on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Applicants must have strong communication skills and be willing to travel with me across the county when required.
Manual handling is an essential part of the role, as I use a hoist and sling for all transfers and lifts and require full support. Full training will be provided. Previous care experience, including personal or professional experience, is desirable but not essential. Relevant training or qualifications, such as an NVQ, would also be welcomed.
Applicants must be based in the UK, as sponsorship is not available for this post. I am looking for someone who is patient, self-motivated, attentive, respectful and caring, with the confidence to work discreetly and use their own initiative. A good sense of humour and experience communicating with people with learning, language or autism-related communication needs would be highly desirable.
I am a 37-year-old man with severe quad spastic cerebral palsy, diagnosed from birth. I display autistic behaviours but do not have a formal autism diagnosis. I need continuous fulltime support with all aspects of daily living and live at home with my dad, who has been my sole carer since my mum passed away in October 2023. I enjoy watching DVDs, learning about actors and actresses, visiting places of interest, going out for lunch, and spending time with friends and family.

- General support with cooking nutritional meals.
- Support to get into the community and taking part in activities.
- Having your own car is essential as there is no regular public transport.
- Support to attend appointments if necessary.
- Prompting me to take medication.
