Person specificationQualifications
Essential criteria
- 1st or 2nd class Honours degree in physics or a relevant subject
- Relevant accredited MSc or higher degree
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist
- RPA
2000 certification as a Medical Physics Expert in nuclear medicine physics or working towards within an agreed timeframe
- Have or be working towards RPA or RWA certification
- Post Registration clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine Physics
- Experience of acting as a Medical Physics Expert in nuclear medicine physics.
- Expert theoretical and practical knowledge of nuclear medicine equipment
- Expert theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular radiotherapy in a clinical environment.
- Expert knowledge of radiation protection, able to act as a Trust expert in area of nuclear medicine and advise on radiation protection.
- High level of understanding of patient and staff risks arising from ionising radiations
- In-depth understanding of relevant legislation, national standards, professional and other guidelines [e.g. IRR, IR(ME)
R, ISO 9001 , RIDDOR, NAIR, COSHH, EPR, MDA/MHRA guidance, HASS]
- Knowledge and experience of quality systems
- Able to write complex information in an accurate and concise way.
- Able to self-manage and to manage others.
- Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own specialist area of competence.
- Good time management skills.
- Able to act as a Trust expert in areas of specialist expertise and communicate to all grades of Trust employees and management.
- Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice.
