Procurement Coordinator / Procurement Officer

A successful and growing manufacturing business based in Whitstable is seeking a proactive and commercially minded Procurement Coordinator / Procurement Officer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the efficient sourcing and supply of materials while supporting operational and business objectives.
The RoleWorking closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring stock levels meet production demands.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the procurement of raw materials, components, and consumables
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
- Obtaining quotes and negotiating pricing, lead times, and terms
- Raising and processing purchase orders
- Monitoring stock levels and coordinating replenishment activities
Tracking supplier performance and resolving supply chain issues - Supporting cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Ensuring procurement processes comply with company policies and procedures
- Producing procurement reports and maintaining accurate records
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- CIPS qualification or currently studying towards one
- Experience with inventory management and production planning
- Knowledge of manufacturing supply chains
