Trainee Gas Engineer

Locations:
Godstone, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, Reigate.

Salary: £30.3k per annum (increases to £33.7k after successful completion of probationary period).

Additional paid standby and overtime opportunities are available.

Start date:

September 2026.

• Support engineers on site and learn from them daily during gas service and mains repair activities.
• Excavation, digging in public & private highways, laying and repairing gas pipes in various outdoor environments as part of a team.
• Contribute to essential works that keep gas supply running to millions of people year‑round, 24/7 – standby and overtime opportunities apply for irregular hours.
• Maintain the SGN vans and tools before and after each job, ensuring equipment is safe and efficient.

• Clean shaven and ability to pass a face‑fit test, wear tight‑fitting dust masks and breathing apparatus for personal protection.
• Valid UK driver’s licence.
• Residency within a commutable distance of the desired locations due to operational response times.
