Our client is one of the UK’s fastest-growing ecommerce brands, supporting over 2 million customers each year with innovative, problem‑solving products designed to make everyday life easier. With one in six UK homes now owning one of their products, their growth trajectory shows no signs of slowing down. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking a QA Engineer to join their rapidly growing team at their new headquarters in Maidstone, Kent.

Quality is central to their technology function, and this role will play a key part in ensuring their systems remain reliable, secure and high performing. This is a fully office‑based role, reflecting their belief that collaboration, creativity and strong teamwork are best achieved in person.

Role & Responsibilities

The QA Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of the company’s PHP‑based applications and systems. Working closely with developers and key stakeholders, the successful candidate will ensure that all releases meet the highest technical standards:

  • Collaborating with the development team to understand requirements and ensure new features are fully testable
  • Conducting comprehensive code reviews to maintain coding standards and identify bugs or inefficiencies
  • Developing and executing detailed test plans covering system functionality, performance and security
  • Writing and maintaining unit tests to automate validation of core application functionality
  • Identifying, documenting and tracking bugs, ensuring timely resolution
  • Implementing and improving QA processes to support consistent, high‑quality delivery
  • Analysing test results and recommending improvements to enhance overall system performance
  • Maintaining clear documentation of testing procedures, outcomes and best practices
Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise combined with a meticulous approach to quality assurance. Essential skills and experience include:

  • Strong knowledge of PHP, including frameworks such as CakePHP or Laravel
  • Experience with PHPUnit and automated testing methodologies
  • Proven experience conducting thorough code reviews
  • Solid understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Experience with MySQL and database schema validation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • A genuine passion for quality assurance and continuous improvement
Package
  • £30,000 per annum
  • Excellent benefits package including private medical cover
