Hours of Work

We operate a split shift pattern, 06:00-16:30 and 09:00-19:30 during the week and 06:00-13:00 on a Saturday as required by the business, paid as overtime.

Gallagher Aggregates are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our team. We operate a modern workshop, with four drive through bays, an inspection pit, brake test equipment overhead crane and more, located within Hermitage Quarry.

As HGV Technician, you will report to the Transport Manager, you will keep the HGV and light vehicle fleet in operation and roadworthy at all times. You will be working with a wide range of commercial vehicles, maintaining our large fleet to a high standard.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Carry out vehicle inspection, maintenance, repair, and MOT preparation, ensuring the fleet complies to all statutory legal compliance as well as adhering to company policy.
  • High level of focus towards actioning VOR and daily defects promptly.
  • Document all work completed using Truckfile, in a timely manner, in order to maintain compliance with PMI intervals etc.
  • Identification and ordering of parts to complete repair work, as required.
  • Ability to work alone on your own initiative when required providing the key repair and maintenance services to the transport fleet.
  • Ensure a high level of personal productivity within your daily duties to include all aspects of vehicle inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Ensure all vehicles are repaired and maintained to a high standard in accordance with manufacturers specifications, whilst maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Attendance to onsite and roadside breakdowns as required.
  • Develop good working relationships with the driver teams across the business.
  • Work closely with the Transport Manager in contributing to the overall development of the workshop and transport function within the Aggregates business.
  • Maintain and deliver ongoing training and development of self to ensure a high quality of technical skillset within the workshop.
  • Continually maintaining and improving the Gallagher brand by paying close attention to the appearance and housekeeping of yourself and the facility.
Skills and Qualifications

Required:
  • Be hard working and flexible, able to work using own initiative and with confidence.
  • Must be qualified or time served.
  • Experience of construction type vehicles and bodies is highly desirable.
  • Diagnostic skills and abilities. Plus, experience of light vehicles is desirable.
  • Hold a full clean Driving License. (Cat C, C+E desirable but not essential)
