Warehouse Operative – Night Shift
The Warehouse Operative is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient receipt, storage, movement, picking, loading, and dispatch of products within the warehouse operation. The role also supports the effective management of returned goods, ensuring all returns are processed accurately, stored correctly, and documented in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements. Working as part of the warehouse team, based both in the office and in the warehouse, the Warehouse Operative plays an important role in maintaining operational efficiency, stock accuracy, customer service standards, and compliance with health, safety, food safety, and quality requirements.
Roleinvolves the following:
- Assist with daily and weekly stock checks as directed.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse housekeeping.
- Keep storage areas organised and free from hazards.
- Empty waste bins and ensure waste disposal areas remain clean and well maintained.
- Clean trailers before loading in accordance with hygiene procedures.
- Ensure all products are stored safely and securely.
- Report accidents, hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping
- Process customer returns in accordance with company procedures.
- Liaise with the Traffic Office regarding returned products.
- Assist with unloading trailers containing returned products.
- Complete all returns documentation accurately.
- Label, segregate, and store returned pallets correctly to ensure product traceability and colleague awareness.
- Escalate discrepancies, damaged goods, or quality concerns promptly to the appropriate manager.
- Work collaboratively with Warehouse, Transport, and Customer Service teams to ensure the timely resolution of returns and minimise disruption to operations.
- Previous warehouse experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Numerate with good attention to detail.
- Previous experience operating an Electric Pallet Truck (EPT) is required. A valid EPT licence/certificate is preferred.
- Good understanding of safe manual handling technique
- Experience with in temperature-controlled or food distribution.
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Knowledge of stock control processes.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Shift: 4 On / 4 Off – with flexibility to meet business and operational requirements
- Pay Rate: £14.20
- Own Transport due to Location
- Must have proof of Right to Work
