Bookkeeper

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day financial operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Freeport, Maine. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing core accounting activities, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure smooth cash flow across the business. The position requires strong hands-on experience with Quick Books and the ability to handle both payables and receivables with accuracy and consistency.

Responsibilities:

- Manage routine bookkeeping tasks and keep financial records current, organized, and accurate.

- Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, and monitor outstanding obligations to support timely accounts payable activity.

- Issue customer invoices, record incoming payments, and follow up on open balances as part of accounts receivable management.

- Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable financial reporting.

- Maintain transactions in Quick Books and ensure entries are coded correctly and supported by documentation.

- Review financial data regularly to identify errors, resolve inconsistencies, and improve record accuracy.

- Assist with periodic reporting by preparing summaries of account activity and other bookkeeping documentation as needed. Requirements - Proven experience performing bookkeeping duties in a business environment.

- Hands-on proficiency with Quick Books for day-to-day accounting and record maintenance.

- Working knowledge of accounts payable processes, including invoice handling and payment tracking.

- Experience managing accounts receivable, including billing and payment application.

- Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with financial information.

- Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines.
