Overview

Summary: The Ground Screw Installer performs a variety of tasks for the pre-drill and installation of ground screw foundations, not limited to assisting other craft workers in the construction, maintenance and repair activities dealing with solar PV systems. Examples include but are not limited to material offloading, trenching for electrical install, final grading, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain equipment including daily, weekly, and preventative maintenance ensuring equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Provide daily report to foreman on progress and meeting daily goals using appropriate forms and communication pathways.
  • Identify safety hazards and potential hazards in processes to ensure safety on site.
  • Coordinate workflow on site with Civil Foreman and crew members for efficient production.
  • Follow the inventory, proper use, and maintenance of company-issued tools procedures.
  • Administer the receiving of material shipments, including safe unloading, checking material to Bill of Lading or Invoice, and providing to Civil Foreman for proper filing.
  • Follow NES and OSHA safety regulations and the provided safety training.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment center of gravity limits to ensure the equipment is not at risk for turnover.
  • Demonstrate ability to rig and secure equipment for transit.
  • Use spotters for all loading, backing, or other critical activities.
  • Provide on-the-job training for equipment operators.
  • Ensure quality of workmanship meets or exceeds minimum industry standards.
  • Arrive to work punctually and diligently perform the duties and tasks assigned.
  • Complete equipment checklists and preventative maintenance; coordinate with Foreman for service needed.
  • Determine needs and request through the Foreman for additional materials, equipment, and personnel. Be specific, as some requests have multiple authorizations and clarity is key.
  • Train employees when directed on specific tasks for understanding and flow of work.
  • Monitor the workflow daily to ensure the project is completed on the designated date, and coordinate with the Foreman about issues, delays, or setbacks.
  • Be available for overtime or emergency response as needed.
Daily Activities
  • Assist and coordinate the transport of all equipment to site, read blueprints, operate WORD machine to pre-drill pilot holes, install ground screw foundations, and operate Skidsteer.
  • Set up and tear down all operating equipment and GPS equipment.
  • Daily checks on all civil equipment for compromised parts and document daily on equipment checklists.
  • Set up laser and transit for grading checks.
  • Oversee offload and staging, including racking materials.
  • Install grading for accuracy and tolerance compliance according to plan spec and Civil engineer.
  • Inform the Foreman when items cannot be finished and need to be added to Punch List.
  • Complete Civil grading QC documents and submit docs to O&M, Senior Construction Manager, and the Director of Construction.
  • Tear down all equipment in preparation for demobilization and moving to next site.
  • Coordinate with construction managers for site plans, revisions, in-field changes or project delays.
