Job Description

Overview:
The Medical Director will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction in all medical and clinical aspects of the organization. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, quality improvement, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership:
    • Provide medical oversight and leadership to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
    • Develop and implement clinical protocols and guidelines in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in clinical outcomes and patient safety.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
    • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation related to medical services.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
  • Provider Management:
    • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate medical staff including physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities for clinical staff.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Monitor and evaluate clinical performance metrics and quality indicators.
    • Implement quality improvement initiatives based on data analysis and feedback.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Serve as a liaison between the organization and the local medical community.
    • Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and professional meetings.
  • Qualifications
    • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
    • Board certification in a relevant specialty.
    • Active medical license in the state of Maine.
    • Proven leadership experience in a clinical or administrative role.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Advanced degree in healthcare management or business administration.
    • Experience working in a similar role within a healthcare organization.
    • Knowledge of healthcare policies, regulations, and reimbursement practices.
