Job Description

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is seeking to hire fully remote Part-Time Adjunct Faculty members who are subject matter experts in Mathematics.

UMPI is a public institution for competency-based education (CBE) accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Your Pace degree programs are self-paced, student-driven, student-centered, subscription-based competency-education model that primarily serves adult learners. Your Pace allows high flexibility for students without compromising academic quality.

Your Pace invites applicants to be Adjunct Faculty members to be Instructors of Record and/or develop courses from a wide range of disciplines and professional skills for undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Teaching assignments may begin at any of our six- or eight-week session start dates per year. Your Pace seeks subject matter experts in the following areas:

  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Real Analysis
  • Etc.

All Your Pace courses are fully online and asynchronous. Interpersonal interactions with students are expected. Your Pace Adjunct Faculty are compensated based on agreements as per the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreements/MOU.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Your Pace Adjunct Faculty for undergraduate degree programs must have at minimum a master’s degree from an accredited institution, and/or significant work experience in a related field.
  • Your Pace Adjunct Faculty for graduate degree programs must have a Doctorate or terminal, advanced degree in field of study, and/or significant work experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the college level
  • Online teaching experience
  • Teaching in a competency-based education model

Technology Requirements
:
Adjunct Faculty are required to have the necessary technology to teach in a fully online environment, including but not limited to a computer (laptop) with adequate processing speed.

You will be required to create an application profile and submit an application.

In addition, for your application to be considered complete, you must submit (upload):

  • Cover letter (include experience, interests, suitability for the position with reference to the qualifications above; indicate which subject(s) you could teach)
  • Transcript for highest degree earned
  • (Optional) Student course evaluations and reflections demonstrating how these assessments informed your teaching practices
Important items to know about the recruitment process
  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will be hired as programmatic needs arise. If no communication regarding application status has been received by May 30, 2026, the application will be considered inactive.
  • Candidates selected to proceed will be asked to provide references.
  • A background screening will be conducted for candidates who move forward.
