Job Overview
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine invites applications for a full-time (9-month) faculty position in Health and Physical Education to begin August 2026. Faculty rank and appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will provide leadership for the Physical Education Teacher Preparation program and assistance with the Sport and Recreation Management program with a focus on high quality teaching and student engagement.
Candidates will have knowledge in standards‑based curriculum and state education requirements. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, service to the college, supervision of practicum and student teaching, and scholarship.
The Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Saint Joseph’s College offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Physical Education, Sport and Recreation Management, Exercise Science, and Health and Wellness Promotion. Tracks in the Exercise Science program include Pre‑Physical Therapy, Pre‑Athletic Training, Pre‑Chiropractic, Sport Performance Specialist, and Double Major with Health & Wellness Promotion.
Minimum Qualifications- A master’s degree is required (doctorate is preferred)
- Experience with elementary and secondary teaching in physical education is required
- Experience in teaching at the college level is desired
- Ability to teach in other disciplines within the Sport and Exercise Science department is preferred
- Applicants that have completed their doctoral requirements will be considered for a tenure track position
