Academic Tutor (Multiple Subjects)
Location:
Lamoine School Department – May work with Hancock Students who attend various high schools
Reports to:
Director of Special Services/Case Manager
Status:
Temporary, Part-Time/Hourly, As Needed
The Lamoine School Department is seeking skilled and compassionate Academic Tutors to provide individualized or small-group instruction for students in a variety of subject areas. Tutors will support students in achieving academic success, building confidence and developing effective learning strategies that align with classroom instruction. Tutoring services occur within a variety of settings including the regular education setting, special education setting, in a student's home, or in a public setting such as the library.
Tutors are employed as temporary part-time employees with the district. Assignments are flexible and may be during or after the school day. To obtain Department of Education credentials visit https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
- Work one-on-one or with a small group of students.
- Provide targeted academic assistance in one or more subject areas (e.g., reading, writing, mathematics, science, or study skills)
- Implement instruction in a variety of subject areas with materials provided and organized by the classroom teacher.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to reinforce instructional goals.
- Assess student progress and adapt instructional methods to meet individual learning needs.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and communicate progress with supervising staff.
- Encourage student engagement, independence, and responsibility for learning.
- Support a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Proof of Ed Tech III authorization or teacher certification and CHRC approval through the Department of Education is required for this position.
- Prior experience working with school-aged children or youth.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while following district policies and procedures.
- Background check and fingerprinting required prior to employment.
