Assistant Director of Food Service – RSU 2

RSU 2 is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Food Services to support the planning, coordination, and supervision of the district’s children nutrition program. This leadership role ensures delivery of nutritious, appealing, and compliant meals to students while supporting staff development, operational efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.

Reports To: Director of Food Services

• Assist in the administration and daily operations of the district’s food services program
• Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (USDA, state education agency, health department)
• Help develop menus that meet nutrition standards, student preferences, and budget guidelines
• Supervise, train, and evaluate food service staff across district schools
• Assist with purchasing, inventory control, and cost management
• Support meal program applications, reporting, and record‑keeping
• Collaborate with school administrators, families, and community partners
• Serve as acting Director of Food Services in the Director’s absence, as needed
• Serve as Chair for the Wellness Committee

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Experience in school food service or large‑scale food service operations
• Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs and applicable regulations
• Completion of State, Department of Education, School Food Services Statewide Training Program or equivalent preferred
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Knowledge and use of computers
• Supervisory and/or Managerial experience

Salary range: $28.00–$35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. The position consists of 195 working days, including one week before school starts and one week after school ends to support the district’s kitchens.
