Faculty | Second Grade Classroom Teacher; Long-Term Sub Position

Berwick Academy, a PreK-Grade 12 co-educational day school located in southern Maine seeks a Second Grade Classroom Teacher (long-term maternity substitute role) to join its Lower School during the current school year with an anticipated start-time of mid-December and continuing into the spring. Berwick’s Lower School program is based on the whole child philosophy of creating a respectful and responsible learning community through exploration and discovery, involving meaningful social-emotional interactions, core academic reading, writing, math and project work experiences and meaningful connections with a blend of special subjects.

Central to the typical second grade classroom experience is project-based learning and collaborative interactions with Lower School colleagues. Qualified candidates will have a passion for and experiences with Elementary-level Education (including content area instruction, SEL programming and outdoor education learning opportunities) and an eagerness to be part of a dynamic teaching-learning community. The ability to foster positive relationships with students and their families, an interest in collaborating with Lower School (grades Pre-K through
4) colleagues and strong communication skills are also qualities of a successful candidate.
