The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Manager in Bridge Design to join our widely respected and growing Transportation Division in our Freeport, ME office location. - Lead a growing local team of bridge engineers with support and mentorship from Bridge Practice leadership.
- Oversee all aspects of Bridge Design.
- Manage multidiscipline projects and meet agreed‑upon budgets and schedules.
- Make public presentations.
- Perform quality control reviews.
- Assist with the development of staff including workloads, training, and career planning, with potential for supervisory role.
- Develop or review all aspects of engineering studies including data collection, models, plans, and estimates.
- Work with state or municipal clients on bridge infrastructure projects, including the design and management of public state, county, and city/town projects.
- Develop new and existing client relations and business development opportunities.
- Assist with proposal preparation to secure new work.
- Serve as local Bridge Discipline lead on pursuits and opportunities.
- Represent MJ at industry and professional society events.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering minimum, Master of Science desirable.
- Professional Engineer license required with the ability to apply for comity in other states.
- 10+ years of progressive Bridge engineering analysis, design, and project management experience.
- Project experience with Maine
DOT required. - Ability to be a self‑starter and work in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to foster business development relationships.
- Public presentation experience required.
- Strong business development skills and experience are a plus.
- Experience obtaining Federal, State, and local regulatory approvals and permits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent track record of financial success, delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Ability to effectively participate as part of a project team, develop and maintain client relations, and meet project demands and schedules.
