This role is based in Lisbon, Maine and is a great opportunity for a recent high school or college graduate, as well as someone looking for a mid‑career shift. The Operator in Training regularly participates in the daily operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment and Distribution facility as directed by the Project Manager.

• Monitor water treatment plant and distribution processes and equipment both manually and via SCADA automation, making adjustments as necessary to control their operation.
• Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to determine compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repair of plant equipment, including preventive maintenance duties.
• Utilize software programs for maintenance work orders and maintain all necessary records.
• Perform general maintenance duties of plant and other assigned duties.

This project operates on a rotating 4 day, 10 hours per day work week.

Operators work M‑TH 0600‑1600 or T‑F 0600‑1600. Operators rotate a 7 day on call coverage schedule, with a $200 per week on call stipend provided once you have obtained your treatment license.

• No operator licenses are required to apply. We welcome candidates who are motivated to grow in the field and have the ability to become licensed. Preference will be given to those who already hold a Maine Class I Operator‑in‑Training Treatment and/or Class I Operator‑in‑Training Distribution License, but we will also consider strong applicants without licenses who are eager to pursue them.
  
  The goal is for all operators to achieve Maine Class II Full Treatment and Class II Distribution Licenses within 2 years of hire, with support provided along the way.
• 1‑3 years’ experience in the water treatment and distribution industry preferred but will consider other related experience.
• Experience with the maintenance of pumps, compressors and plumbing fixtures, or a background in maintenance is highly desirable.
• A valid State of Maine motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation and maintenance of Water Treatment and Distribution Systems.
