Position Overview

UBS is seeking a skilled and passionate NLP Data Scientist to join our Data Science team within the Data Analytics Foundational Platform (DAFP). You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) models to derive actionable business insights and enhance decision-making capabilities.

This role offers an opportunity to work on impactful projects that integrate large language models (LLMs), cutting-edge AI tools, and cloud-based analytics systems in a global, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities Develop, train, and deploy NLP and ML models to solve complex business problems.

Contribute to end-to-end model development, ensuring adherence to best practices in software engineering and reproducible research.

Build and maintain LLM evaluation frameworks to monitor model performance, reliability, and consistency across metrics.

Collaborate with global data science teams (US, Poland, China) to design scalable and efficient AI-driven solutions.

Translate analytical results into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Implement and maintain data pipelines, APIs, and cloud-based ML workflows.

Stay updated with emerging trends in AI, NLP, and prompt engineering to continuously improve the team’s capabilities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics, or a related technical field.

Technical Expertise:

Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch, Transformers, Lang Chain, spaCy, and OpenAI SDKs.Hands-on experience with Large Language Model (LLM) APIs (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).Deep understanding of NLP techniques, information retrieval, text mining, and prompt engineering.

Experience with version control systems (Git) and software engineering best practices.

Familiarity with cloud ecosystems like Azure, AWS, GCP, or Databricks.

Soft Skills:

Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Strong communication and presentation skills to engage both technical and business teams.
