Town Manager – Winterport, Maine

The Town of Winterport, Maine, a picturesque and vibrant community, is seeking a highly skilled Town Manager. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a dedicated team and shape the future of a town renowned for its stunning natural beauty along the Penobscot River.

Winterport has approximately 3,800 year‑round residents and values its natural resources, rich history, and strong sense of community. The municipal budget is about $7 million, with a staff of roughly 7 full‑time employees and 12–15 volunteer fire personnel. Services include public works, fire, planning, code enforcement, and administration.

• Strategic Thinker: Capable of developing and implementing long‑term plans that align with the town’s vision and values.
• Strong Communicator: Able to effectively engage with the Council, staff, residents, and stakeholders.
• Experienced Administrator: Proficient in municipal finance, budgeting, human resources, and operations.
• Collaborative Leader: Fosters a positive work environment and builds consensus among diverse groups.
• Community‑Oriented: Passionate about serving the needs of the community and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
• Knowledgeable of Maine Law: Familiarity with Maine municipal law and regulations is highly desirable.

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent life experience).
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in management, preferably in municipal government.
• Demonstrated experience with budget development and financial oversight.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

The Town of Winterport offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package. Salary range: $90,000 to $110,000.
