Location DescriptionMichael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product.
ResponsibilitiesJOB SUMMARY: This position reports to the Production Supervisor and is an integral part of the production team in ensuring efficiency, adherence to the production schedule, employee training, and product quality. Assists in coordinating all aspects of the packaging department for the cuts and mashed potato lines. This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversees processing/packaging operations to ensure daily production goals are met, monitoring production employees, re‑directing staff as needed due to schedule, breaks and lunches, and verifying product quality.
- Works closely with other operations staff, such as processing, maintenance, QA, R&D, and shipping/receiving to troubleshoot and resolve any production‑related delays, downtime, product holds, etc., and communicates with the Production Supervisor.
- Identifies and supports continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiencies and reduce production costs.
- Supports all company safety programs and ensures a safe working environment for all employees by monitoring safety performance and ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and goals.
- Coordinates and executes employee training to ensure production procedures are followed and meet all daily requirements.
- Follows all SQF principles pertinent to the position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
- Reports all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Some supervision is required. The Shift Supervisor will support the Line Lead and, in the absence of the Shift Supervisor, will act as supervisor. If the Line Lead is absent, the Shift Supervisor has been identified as the designated back‑up.

Education and/or
Experience:
2‑year degree, and/or 2‑4 years related experience.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
Computer
Skills:
Knowledge of database software, inventory software, manufacturing software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear; frequently required to sit and use hands; occasionally required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment includes frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
