Job Description

The Breakfast Attendant is the first person guests encounter at Migis Lodge. They greet guests efficiently, welcome them with warmth and enthusiasm, and ensure a smooth dining experience. Duties include setting up the dining room, preparing the breakfast buffets & coffee snoozer, keeping the buffet stocked and clean, and ensuring food quality. They assist with side work at the beginning and end of shifts, and work closely with Restaurant Management, Kitchen Staff, and Food & Beverage personnel to exceed guests’ expectations.

  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance and dress according to property expectations.
  • Understand the organization of the dining room, seating charts, and members of the service team.
  • Ensure breakfast buffet and eggs‑to‑order/food special information reflect Migis Lodge standards; continually restock and tidy to keep the buffet and snoozer neat and plentiful.
  • Recognize repeat or frequent guests.
  • Welcome all guests warmly, provide initial orientation to the buffet, and keep guests comfortable; inform them if a wait is required.
  • Assist fellow servers in pouring water, clearing tables, and resetting tables.
  • Say goodbye to departing guests; notify managers about any issues to be addressed.
  • Answer basic questions about the property, activities, etc., or know where to refer guests for answers.
  • Operate restaurant equipment safely (coffee makers, refrigeration, juice machines, soup warmers, toasters, open‑table system, etc.).
  • Collaborate with other Breakfast Servers to keep guests’ needs met; notify managers of special needs for future visits.
  • Handle and communicate special orders and guest complaints professionally; share order status; identify common food allergies and communicate to kitchen.
  • Complete side work as assigned (resetting tables, stocking supplies, cleaning, etc.).
  • Participate in setup, execution, and clean‑up of banquet functions per Banquet Event Orders/Event Sheets and as directed by Sales & Catering Manager or Dining Room Manager.
  • Maintain food safety, service station, personal cleanliness and sanitation standards per Maine Department of Health and Human Services, OSHA, and general maintenance of the dining room/restaurant.
  • Notify appropriate staff if equipment is broken or conditions are unsafe/unsanitary.
  • Lift/manual handle up to 60 pounds between knee and shoulders; lift a fully loaded tray to shoulder height.
  • Use bilateral fine manipulation of both hands throughout the shift.
  • Work vertically mobile in limited space for the entire shift.
  • Protect the assets of Migis Lodge and Migis Hotel Group.
Minimum Requirements
  • Leadership ability and conflict resolution with guests.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Team orientation.
  • Understanding of verbal directions, menu details, chemical labels, and safety signage.
  • Active listening and observation skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle stressful situations during busy periods.
Abilities Required
  • Frequent walking, bending, balancing, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting, manual dexterity, and repetitive motions; may involve working on uneven outdoor surfaces, moving chairs, tables, and banquet equipment.
  • Occasional stair climbing.
  • Schedule varies; includes early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Frequent hand-washing.
  • Hazards include lifting injuries, slips, and tripping.
