Hagar Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an experienced CDL Truck Driver for on‑call plowing operations. This position is ideal for a dependable driver looking for seasonal winter work, with the opportunity for full‑time employment during the paving and excavation season.
Position OverviewCDL drivers at Hagar Enterprises are responsible for all aspects of truck operation, including plowing, hauling materials, and transporting equipment with trailers. Drivers may be required to start early to ensure equipment and materials are in place before crews arrive on site. While the primary responsibility is truck operation, drivers will also assist with general labor tasks as needed.
Primary Responsibilities- Report directly to the foreman or supervisor
- Operate CDL trucks safely and efficiently for plowing and material hauling
- Inspect trucks and equipment daily (fluids, lights, wear and tear, safety items)
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved or delivered
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and keep maintenance records
- Keep trucks and equipment clean and in good working condition
- Report safety concerns or maintenance issues promptly
- Assist with general labor tasks on job sites, including shoveling, raking, and material placement
- Help with loading, unloading, and placement of asphalt, gravel, and other materials
- Assist mechanics with repairs when needed
- Perform general maintenance of company buildings and equipment
- Operate basic equipment such as plate compactors, saws, striping equipment, and seal coating units
- Work with petroleum products, solvents, and hot asphalt
- Perform night work as required, especially during plowing operations
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid, unexpired Maine CDL license (non‑restricted is a plus!)
- Ability to pass required drug screening
- Strong safety awareness
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 4050 lbs
- Frequent sitting while driving; regular climbing, bending, lifting, and walking
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including snow, ice, rain, heat, and cold
- Exposure to construction site hazards such as dust, traffic, and noise
- Flexibility to work long hours, nights, weekends, and on‑call schedules during plowing season
