Duties
- Operate gasoline or diesel‑powered vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 lbs. or more. May also operate pickups, stake and dump trucks.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring cargo is enclosed while enroute to destination.
- Use equipment such as front end loader, loader/backhoe, or forklift to load trucks. Operate vehicles on narrow, winding roads in campgrounds and through narrow streets in towns.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment and lead work of lower‑graded employees at times.
- Operate small equipment and hand tools such as chainsaws, chipper, backpack blowers, shovels and rakes. Perform general maintenance work such as repairing picnic tables, erecting signs, repairing fence, cutting vegetation, or cleaning ditches.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License.
- Substance‑free drug test and random testing for illegal drug use.
- Operate government (or private) motor vehicle as part of official duties; submit Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- May be required to complete training and operate a four‑wheel drive vehicle.
- Wear a uniform and comply with National Park Service uniform standards; uniform allowance provided.
- May be required to work overtime.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old due to hazardous work.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

- Veteran within 120 days of discharge – signed documentation certifying release, pay grade, dates of service, medals, etc.
- Disabled Veteran, Purple Heart Recipient, etc. – required proof and completed forms.
