About the Role
Our client, an inclusive international school in Makassar
, South Sulawesi, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Needs (SEN) Coordinator. This crucial role involves overseeing the provision of support for students with diverse learning needs across the school. The SEN Coordinator will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure that all students receive the appropriate accommodations, interventions, and resources to achieve their full potential.
This position offers a unique opportunity to foster an inclusive learning environment in Makassar and make a significant difference in the lives of students requiring specialized educational support. You will be responsible for developing and implementing SEN policies and procedures, coordinating individual education plans (IEPs), and advocating for the needs of students with disabilities. The role requires excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to lead and inspire a team dedicated to supporting student success.
- Lead the development and implementation of the school's Special Education Needs (SEN) program and policies.
- Coordinate the identification, assessment, and support of students with diverse learning needs.
- Develop and oversee the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to provide strategies and support for inclusive teaching practices.
- Liaise with parents/guardians to ensure consistent communication and partnership regarding their child's progress and needs.
- Work with external agencies and specialists to secure necessary support and resources for students.
- Provide training and professional development to staff on SEN-related topics.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all students receiving SEN support.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of students with SEN within the school community.
- Monitor the effectiveness of SEN interventions and make adjustments as needed.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Relevant certification or qualification in Special Education Needs support.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working directly with students with SEN, with experience in a coordination or leadership role preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of various learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and behavioral challenges.
- Understanding of assessment tools and diagnostic processes for SEN.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective IEPs and support strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders (teachers, parents, specialists).
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Indonesia.
