Position: EDUCATIONAL TEAM LEADER
Job Description Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA) provides students with a supportive and challenging environment that is responsive to multiple learning styles, emphasizes learning through the arts, and integrates critical and creative thinking throughout the curriculum. We work with students to assume responsibility, not avoid it. The Academic Support Department contributes to these goals by:
establishing a positive learning environmentidentifying and implementing services that address each student’s individual learning style, strengths, and challengesfostering feelings of empowerment that help students advocate on their own behalf and assume responsibility for their own learning.PVPA has an opportunity for a Special Education Team Leader (ETL) for the school year. We are currently seeking highly qualified candidates for a full-time position managing the IEP process. Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, you will be responsible for:
Serving as chairperson of IEP Team meetingsCompleting mandatory documentation paperwork from Team meetingsDevelopment/writing/review of Individualized Educational PlansRegular communication and collaboration with staff /administration involved in the Team processCollaborate with the special education liaisons, guidance counselors, and families to develop consents for evaluations based on the individual caseCollaborate with personnel in the sending districts to help transition students with IEPs into PVPAEngage and partner with families involved in the IEP Team processDevelop and maintain collaborative relationships with general education staff.Routine collaboration with Special Education support staffMaintain routine contact with the Student Services OfficeAttend school-wide trainings and Special Education department meetingsQualifications
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Special Education certification or similar certificationExperience developing Individualized Educational PlansKnowledge and experience with transition planningExperience with culturally diverse populationsStrong interpersonal, leadership, and facilitation skillsPrior experience working with secondary students is desirableExcellent communication and organizational skillsDemonstrated experience working with and implementing the special education evaluation process, parents’ rights, and current special education law and regulationsSalary Range: $66,836 - $68,000 annually with potential for a bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty-five-hour work week.
