Responsibilities
  • Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities where state and federal laws/regulations allow; ensures efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
  • Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervises pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics.
  • Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Leads training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Makes decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination.
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer complaints and responds to customers’ requests in a timely manner, ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating customer needs, proactively offering services, and enhancing experience by increasing focus on healthcare services.
  • Assists pharmacist in the delivery of patient care including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verifying where allowed by law; completes patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision; assists with healthcare service offerings such as vaccines and health screenings where allowed by law.
  • Delegates, directs, and assigns non-clinical work in the pharmacy, ensuring tasks are completed on time and holds others accountable for efficient workflow.
  • Prepares, and files reports and records required by the company and various government agencies.
  • Manages core pharmacy workflow and drives excellence in pharmacy operations. Coordinates and organizes daily schedule of activities, recommends allocation of pharmacy hours, ensures the pharmacy is clean, neat, orderly, and stocked.
  • Ensures compliance and execution of all business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure; manages annual inventory preparation.
  • Drives new technology/process roll out, champions change and engages team around action planning; ensures proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy department equipment.
  • Maintains and applies knowledge of company asset protection techniques; supports Pharmacy Manager with diversion monitoring and reports concerns that would compromise security.
  • Communicates prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist, adheres to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the continuous quality improvement program.
  • Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims, follows up with insurance companies and medical providers, and participates in 3rd party audit.
  • Assists Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality and customer service.
  • Manages Community Outreach portal and coordinates or assigns pharmacists to off‑site immunization clinics and community events, building and sustaining relationships with retail partnerships.
  • Leads performance management of technicians, enforces discipline policies, holds technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness, and engages team through action planning.
  • Accountable for technician hiring, onboarding, training and scheduling; monitors timely training completion; follows established policies for scheduling and training.
  • Identifies gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge among team members and supports training through hands‑on or learning modules.
  • Assists Pharmacy Manager in monitoring licensure, registration and certifications of all pharmacy and team members; leverages Walgreens resources such as the Walgreens Online Verification System for documentation.
  • Ensures proper procedures are followed for selection, recruitment, record retention and training per company policy and local, state and federal laws.
