Maintenance Technician Apprentice (Wastewater)
Join Anglian Water Services as a Maintenance Technician Apprentice (Wastewater) and help keep our sites and equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.
- Location – Maldon, Essex
- Start date – August 2026
- Starting Salary – £18,000 (increasing to £23,500 in your second year)

As a front‑line Technician Apprentice, you’ll split your time between college learning and hands‑on experience across our operational sites, supporting the wastewater recycling process – collecting, treating and cleaning wastewater before returning it safely to our rivers and seas.
The role is practical and outdoor, varied, rewarding and occasionally challenging, with opportunities to grow into a skilled technician. Once qualified, you’ll join a 24/7 standby rota because your role is vital.
What You’ll Do- Inspect, maintain and care for essential assets and equipment
- Support fault‑finding and respond to issues to help keep our sites running efficiently
- Work and learn alongside experienced mechanical and electrical technicians and follow health & safety rules
- Follow all health & safety procedures
- Take ownership of your development and contribute to team success
- English, Maths and Science (grades 9–4/A*–C); predicted grades accepted if exams not yet completed;
Level 2 Functional Skills also accepted - A genuine interest in the water industry and protecting the environment
- Good communication skills and a strong team mindset
- Willingness to work outdoors and learn new skills
- If you do not currently hold a full UK driving licence, you’ll need to obtain one by the end of year two of the programme, or if this isn’t possible due to your age, within one year of your 17th birthday
