Execute the primary functions of the Office of Student Services related to the tasks associated with admissions and office management, providing full service recruitment and admissions services to prospective applicants and students to the School of Public Policy.
Duties
- ADMISSIONS: As delegated by the senior director, market the program including the overall development and promotion of the School of Public Policy's image through targeted strategies including: recruitment events, presentations to faculty and students at targeted institutions, and regular relationship-building with those who influence prospective student decisions (i.e., professors, policy leaders). Create recruiting calendar for domestic and international graduate fairs and other recruitment events;
set up school visits and campus tours for interested candidates; responsibilities also include recruiting students to SPP's growing presence in Washington, DC and any other academic and professional programs created at the School of Public Policy. Position should be seen as part of the school's overall promotion strategy, building program awareness among travel to local and national markets in support of student recruitment.
The recruitment strategic plan should build to and maintain an enrollment of 110-130 students (total of two class cohorts). Manage the application and admissions process, create and maintain student application files; set up admission file reviews with faculty and senior director; maintain applicant checklist of admissions requirements and pending files for applicants; maintain high-touch services to prospective students and applicants.
Prepare recruitment and admissions reports for the senior director and director of recruitment and perform other recruitment and admissions duties as assigned and needed. - OFFICE MANAGEMENT: Manage the administrative functions of the Office of Student Services, including reconciling all departmental credit card statements, ordering all business cards, managing inventory, setting up mailings for the Office of Student Services, including GRE list pulls, acceptance packets, deposit notifications, denial letters, and others as necessary, paying all invoices and acting as primary point of contact for the University Cashier's Office and related cash/check deposit transactions, developing and maintaining files, answering phones, as necessary, fielding prospective student, applicant, and current student questions, and assisting all walk-ins, maintaining appointment calendar and planning travel (as necessary) for the director of recruitment and program relations.
Maintain clean and organized office areas, including the student resource room and relevant conference room space, and replenishing recruitment and office supplies, as needed. Provide a welcoming reception to all current students at all times. Hire, train, and manage student workers in the Office of Student Services and provide day-to-day supervision. Perform other administrative office management duties as deemed necessary. - ENROLLMENT: Partner with the Office of International Student Services (OISS) for F-1 Visa processing and requirements to ensure that students are in compliance with federal immigration requirements. Oversee orientation onboarding for new students and manage all communications to prospective students, applicants, and admitted/denied students. Ensure all newly admitted students are ready for matriculation and enrollment and smoothly transition to the School of Public Policy.
Regularly report information back to the director on all of these responsibilities. - EVENTS: Plan, organize, and execute new student orientation; welcome week activities; recruitment open house events and conferences.

Skills and Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree. Skill and diplomacy in interacting with students, prospective students, alumni, donors, employers and other internal and external constituents; exemplary communication skills, including proofreading and editing, written and oral communication; proven track record of making independent decisions. Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member; demonstrated professional record of taking initiative, providing counsel, and a quick learner.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Knowledge of Pepperdine University, the School of Public Policy, and academic policies. Knowledge and understanding of public policy and policy analysis and the industries of public policy. Candidates should have some familiarity with financial aid development and procedures, as well as some understanding of the admissions process.
