Position: Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, Seaver College

Overview

Pepperdine University is seeking an experienced advancement professional to serve as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development for Seaver College. Reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Development and working in close collaboration with the Dean of Seaver College, this frontline fundraising role is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive advancement strategy that supports the College’s mission of purpose, service and leadership.

The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development will manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, playing a pivotal role in securing transformative philanthropic support for Seaver College’s academic priorities, faculty initiatives and student opportunities. Working closely with the Dean, advancement colleagues, faculty and advisory boards, this leader will strengthen donor pipelines, steward long‑term relationships and drive measurable fundraising success through thoughtful, values‑aligned engagement that inspires confidence among alumni, parents and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects to secure philanthropic support for Seaver College.
  • Shape and execute a comprehensive advancement strategy in collaboration with the Dean and advancement colleagues.
  • Strengthen donor pipelines, steward long‑term relationships, and drive fundraising success through thoughtful, values‑aligned engagement.
  • Collaborate with faculty, advisory boards and across academic and advancement teams to advance priorities and opportunities for students and faculty.
  • Inspire confidence among alumni, parents and key stakeholders through effective communication and relationship management.
Qualifications
  • Experienced major gift officer with a proven record of closing six- and seven-figure gifts and demonstrated fluency in planned giving.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building and strategic planning skills; ability to collaborate across academic and advancement teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressively responsible major gift fundraising experience required; master’s degree and prior higher education fundraising experience preferred.
Salary and Pay Transparency

This position adheres to California’s Pay Transparency Act (SB 1162). The salary range of $127,500 - $150,000 reflects Pepperdine University’s current posting expectations. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
