Paraprofessional - Juvenile Detention Center

The Aptus Group is seeking a compassionate and dependable Paraprofessional to support students ages 12–19 in a Juvenile Court School setting in Malibu, CA
. In this role, you will work alongside classroom teachers to provide academic and classroom support while helping create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for students involved in the juvenile justice system. This is meaningful work for individuals who are passionate about helping youth heal, grow, and reach their full potential.

$22 per hour

• Comfortable working in a juvenile court school setting with students ages 12-19 years of age who have behavior challenges
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• 6 months of experience working with youth in educational settings is preferred.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in a structured facility environment.
• Passionate about working with youth impacted by trauma and juvenile justice involvement
• Interested in pursuing a career in education, social work, counseling, juvenile justice, or related fields
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Reliable transportation.

• Assist classroom teachers with instruction, supervision, and daily classroom activities.
• Staff may support multiple students or classrooms due to frequent student movement
• Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support to students.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
• Encourage student engagement, participation, and positive behavior.
• Support students’ emotional and social development with compassion and patience.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.
