We’re looking for an ambitious and hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead our Engineering team at our Malton site.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering
, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of our Maintenance Engineers, ensuring our people, equipment and processes perform at their best.

What will you be responsible for? Health & Safety

You’ll be a visible champion for Health & Safety across the site, helping to create a culture where everyone takes responsibility for working safely.

  • Champion Health & Safety and promote a safe working environment for all colleagues

  • Participate in H&S meetings and lead Safety Gemba Walks

  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions and near misses

  • Ensure actions are followed through and completed in a timely manner

Leadership & Team Development

Your team will be at the heart of your role. You’ll provide clear direction, develop capability and create an environment where people can perform at their best.

  • Lead, engage, coach and develop the Engineering team

  • Set clear objectives and provide regular feedback

  • Build capability and confirm competency across the team

  • Coach colleagues in Lean principles, problem-solving and continuous improvement

  • Develop proactive improvement plans against key KPIs

  • Establish and communicate a clear Engineering strategy aligned with wider business objectives

Maintenance & Engineering

You’ll take ownership of the site’s maintenance function, ensuring our plant and equipment remain safe, reliable and efficient.

  • Oversee fault diagnostics, breakdown response, equipment installation and planned maintenance

  • Ensure PPM is completed as planned and in partnership with Operations

  • Work closely with Operations to support production start-up requirements

  • Manage and control contractors undertaking work on-site

  • Maintain accurate engineering records, documentation and reporting

  • Drive equipment reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement

Quality & Compliance

Working within a highly regulated food manufacturing environment, you’ll ensure Engineering activities meet the required standards.

  • Support and participate in site audit processes

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs and legal requirements

  • Maintain awareness of BRC standards and customer codes of practice

  • Ensure Engineering processes and documentation meet the required standards

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a confident and inspirational Engineering leader who can balance people, performance and technical excellence
.

You’ll ideally be someone who:

  • Has experience leading an Engineering or Maintenance team within food manufacturing

  • Has an Engineering qualification or equivalent relevant experience

  • Has strong Mechanical and Electrical Engineering knowledge

  • Is an excellent people leader who can motivate, coach and develop others

  • Is commercially aware and comfortable managing budgets and resources

  • Has a proactive, continuous-improvement mind-set and enjoys challenging the status quo

  • Can adapt quickly to changing business needs and introduce new ideas

  • Understands BRC standards and customer codes of practice

  • Has experience using CMMS systems

  • Is highly organised, solutions-focused and committed to delivering results

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can bring people together, create a high-performing team and make a genuine difference to Engineering performance across the site.
