How you make a difference

The Physician is responsible for assessing and treating patients’ physical health, conducting exams, coordinating outside referrals, and overseeing clinical care activities provided by ARNPs. The role includes documentation, after-hours on-call responsibilities, and collaboration with psychiatric and interdisciplinary staff to ensure integrated care. Travel may be required; work is primarily in correctional or clinical settings. The physician educates patients and families, ensures safety procedures, and tailors treatment plans to the patient’s age and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients’ physical health through examinations and diagnostic procedures
  • Provide and oversee documentation, outside referrals, consultations, and follow-ups
  • Offer clinical oversight and support to ARNPs, including care provision and documentation review
  • Perform minor medical procedures such as sutures, IV placement, and lumbar puncture
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff and provide education to patients and families
Qualifications & Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Medical doctorate (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years post-residency clinical experience in an outpatient/inpatient setting
  • Psychiatric experience preferred

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Licensed in the state of employment
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and applicable certifications
  • Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine

Additional Details

1 day per week, 8 hours.
