Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized General Accountant to manage the company's day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with Bahrain's accounting standards and VAT regulations, and support management with timely financial information. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining complete financial records, preparing reports, managing statutory obligations, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and applicable Bahraini laws.

Key Responsibilities General Accounting
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly closing entries.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, cash accounts, and supplier/customer balances.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure all accounting records are maintained accurately and confidentially.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly management reports.
  • Produce profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Analyze financial performance and identify variances.
  • Assist management with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Prepare financial reports required by auditors and management.
VAT & Tax Compliance
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with Bahrain National Bureau for Revenue (N ) regulations.
  • Ensure accurate VAT accounting and proper tax documentation.
  • Maintain VAT records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist during VAT audits and tax inspections.
  • Monitor compliance with Bahrain VAT legislation and regulatory updates.
Payroll & Employee Finance
  • Process monthly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Calculate employee benefits, deductions, leave balances, and end-of-service settlements in accordance with Bahrain Labour Law.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding employee financial records.
  • Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all financial information.
Treasury & Cash Management
  • Monitor daily cash flow.
  • Prepare payment schedules.
  • Manage bank transfers and cheque payments.
  • Reconcile cash balances.
  • Assist in managing company liquidity.
Budgeting & Analysis
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets.
  • Monitor actual expenses against budget.
  • Analyze financial trends and recommend cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Prepare financial forecasts when required.
Coordination
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, suppliers, government authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments regarding accounting matters.
  • Support management with financial analysis and decision‑making.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in Bahrain.
  • Strong knowledge of Bahrain VAT regulations and accounting practices.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in multi-company accounting is preferred.
  • Experience dealing with external auditors and regulatory authorities.
  • Knowledge of IFRS.
