- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on vehicles to identify electrical, electronic, mechanical, and system-related faults.
- Use manufacturer-specific and advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to retrieve and interpret fault codes and system data.
- Conduct systematic troubleshooting to identify the root cause of reported vehicle issues.
- Inspect vehicles and carry out diagnostic tests based on customer complaints and technician/service advisor reports.
- Diagnose issues relating to engine management, transmission, ABS, SRS/airbags, air conditioning, body control systems, electrical systems, and other vehicle electronic systems.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, technical information, fault codes, and diagnostic data.
- Carry out electrical testing using appropriate diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Determine whether a fault is related to a component, wiring, sensor, control module, or other vehicle system.
- Provide clear technical recommendations regarding the required repairs or further investigations.
- Work closely with service advisors and workshop team leader to communicate diagnostic findings and repair requirements.
- Support technicians during complex repairs and provide technical guidance where required.
- Verify completed repairs by conducting appropriate diagnostic checks and vehicle testing.
- Ensure that diagnosed faults are accurately documented in the relevant workshop/job card system.
- Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to the workshop manager or relevant technical support team.
- Keep up to date with new vehicle technologies, diagnostic systems, technical bulletins, and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Ensure all diagnostic activities are carried out in accordance with manufacturer standards and workshop procedures.
- Maintain diagnostic equipment and ensure tools are handled correctly and kept in good working condition.
- Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and workshop procedures.
We, at Ebrahim K. Kanoo are looking for a Diagnostic Technician for our Motor City Service Center. You will be responsible for accurately diagnosing electrical, electronic, mechanical, and vehicle system-related faults using advanced diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge.
The role requires a strong experience in vehicle electrical and electronic diagnostics, hands‑on automotive background with the ability to interpret diagnostic results, identify the root cause of vehicle issues, recommend appropriate repair solutions, and work closely with technicians to ensure repairs are completed accurately and efficiently, good understanding of modern vehicle electronic systems and control modules, ability to read and interpret automotive wiring diagrams and technical information.
The successful candidate should have strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced workshop environment. You should have minimum 3 - 4 years of automotive diagnostic experience, preferably within a dealership or professional automotive workshop environment. Holding a Diploma, certificate, or equivalent technical qualification in Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, Vehicle Mechanics, or a related field is required.
