Automotive Diagnostic Technician

- Perform advanced diagnostics on modern passenger vehicles.
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computerized vehicle faults.
- Use professional diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-level diagnostic software to identify faults accurately.
- Carry out systematic fault-finding and determine the root cause of vehicle issues.
- Interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), wiring diagrams, technical information, and live data.
- Perform electrical testing using appropriate diagnostic and test equipment.
- Diagnose CAN bus, communication, sensor, actuator, and control-module related faults.
- Carry out coding, programming, adaptations, and system resets where required and within the technician's capabilities.
- Conduct post-repair diagnostic checks and confirm that faults have been correctly resolved.
- Support mechanical technicians with complex diagnostic investigations.
- Identify repair requirements and communicate technical findings clearly to workshop management.
- Maintain accurate diagnostic and repair documentation.
- Follow manufacturer procedures, workshop standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Keep diagnostic equipment, tools, and the work area clean and properly maintained.
- Stay up to date with new automotive technologies, diagnostic systems, and vehicle electronics.
- Minimum 5 years of professional automotive diagnostic experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Proven experience using professional automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Strong ability to diagnose faults beyond basic fault-code reading.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, technical data, live parameters, and diagnostic information.
- Good understanding of vehicle communication systems, including CAN bus.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and methodically when diagnosing complex faults.
- Relevant automotive technical qualification or certification is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Previous experience with European prestige and luxury automotive brands is highly advantageous.
Experience with brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Range Rover/Land Rover, Bentley, Maserati, Jaguar, or similar would be preferred.
Experience working within a premium independent, dealership, specialist workshop, or European vehicle service centre is an advantage.
