Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, technically strong, and proactive Director of Engineering to lead the pre-opening and launch of engineering and facilities operations at Tivoli Bilaj Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort and Avani Bilaj Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort.

This critical leadership role is responsible for ensuring that all building systems, infrastructure, and facilities are fully operational, compliant, and ready for opening. You will play a key role in asset protection, sustainability, and the long-term reliability of both resorts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all pre-opening engineering and facilities planning, including commissioning, testing, and handover of all building systems and equipment.
  • Oversee the completion of snag lists, defect rectification, and coordination with contractors, consultants, and project teams.
  • Establish engineering SOPs, preventive maintenance programs, and emergency response procedures.
  • Recruit, train, and lead the engineering team to ensure operational readiness for opening.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, fire and life safety requirements, and brand engineering standards.
  • Manage energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and utility consumption to optimize operational costs.
  • Develop and control engineering budgets, capital expenditure plans, and maintenance cost forecasts.
  • Coordinate closely with Operations, Housekeeping, and F&B teams to ensure seamless day-to-day hotel functionality.
  • Implement asset management and maintenance systems to protect and extend the life of hotel facilities and equipment.
  • Provide technical support and strategic advice to the Hotel Manager and ownership during pre-opening and post-opening phases.

This role is ideal for a hands-on pre-opening engineering leader with strong technical expertise, project coordination experience, and a proactive approach to maintaining world-class resort facilities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required;
    Master's degree preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex engineering projects
  • Strong technical expertise in relevant engineering fields
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities
  • Advanced project management and budgeting skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities
  • Proficiency in resource allocation and team management
  • In-depth knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards
  • Experience with implementing innovative engineering solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisive actions
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
