Assistant Manager – Chilled Water Projects

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the execution of multiple chilled water HVAC projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Support the Projects Manager in planning, organizing, and directing departmental project activities and resources.
• Lead project teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure effective coordination and execution.
• Review and approve system designs, load calculations, equipment selection, and shop drawings to ensure technical accuracy and optimization.
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of chillers, pumps, piping systems, valves, insulation, and control systems.
• Monitor project timelines, costs, and resource utilization, implementing corrective actions where required to maintain project performance.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, local authority regulations, ASHRAE standards, and company quality and HSE policies.
• Act as a key point of contact for consultants, clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and issue resolution.
• Review and approve technical submittals, method statements, commissioning plans, and material specifications.
• Support procurement activities through technical evaluation of vendors, materials, and equipment.
• Conduct regular site visits and progress reviews to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and project milestones.
• Identify project risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
• Oversee preparation of progress reports, cost reports, technical documentation, and project handover dossiers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including adoption of energy-efficient and innovative HVAC solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff, enhancing team capability and succession readiness.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• Valid CRPEP license – mandatory.
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in chilled water HVAC systems design, installation, and commissioning.
• At least 3–5 years in a leadership or project management role within HVAC projects.
• Strong technical expertise in chilled water plants, pumps, piping networks, valves, and HVAC control systems.
• Solid understanding of international and local HVAC standards and regulations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and teams effectively.
• Strong commercial awareness, including budgeting and cost control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required.
