The role of Engineer - Environmental is responsible for implementing technical solutions and programs that drive Bapco Energies’ environmental sustainability on the ground. This role combines engineering expertise with environmental management know-how to reduce the company’s environmental impact and ensure regulatory compliance in daily operations. The incumbent supports in translating high‑level sustainability goals into measurable actions and tangible results through rigorous data analysis, fieldwork, and cross‑department collaboration.
This role is responsible to ensure that Bapco Energies meets its legal environmental obligations and continually improves its performance in line with industry’s best practices and the company’s Sustainability targets.
- Conduct routine environmental monitoring and site inspections covering air, water, soil, and other key indicators.
- Lead sampling campaigns, waste audits, and related field activities across Bapco Energies facilities.
- Analyze monitoring data to identify trends, non‑compliance, or exceedances, and escape issues for timely corrective action.
- Support environmental permitting by gathering and organizing required technical data for emissions, effluent, and waste‑related applications.
- Ensure day‑to‑day operational compliance with permit conditions and environmental regulations.
- Participate in internal and external audits, provide evidence of compliance, and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Support and facilitate Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and the development of project‑specific Environmental Management Plans.
- Conduct baseline environmental studies and risk assessments to evaluate potential impacts of new projects or operational modifications.
- Identify and recommend mitigation measures to minimize impacts on biodiversity, land, air, and water.
- Lead technical activities related to soil and groundwater protection, including containment design, monitoring, and remediation guidance. Coordinate biodiversity assessments and contribute to the development and deployment of the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP).
- Lead or contribute to pollution prevention, resource efficiency, and circularity initiatives across operations.
- Support waste management improvements by identifying ways to reduce waste, enhance segregation and recycling, and ensure safe disposal.
- Collaborate with emissions management teams on energy efficiency enhancements and emissions reduction technologies (e.g., methane capture, flaring reduction).
- Support water conservation projects by identifying opportunities for water reuse, recycling, and reducing losses through leak detection and system improvements.
- Pilot new technologies, monitoring tools, or process improvements and assess their environmental performance benefits.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation on environmental compliance and performance, including updated GHG inventories.
- Document methodologies used in emissions and environmental calculations to ensure transparency and audit readiness.
- Develop technical reports, presentations, and data summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions such as emissions monitoring reports, waste summaries, and environmental performance updates.
- Provide technical support to the Environmental Manager in responding to regulatory inquiries, investor questions, or inspections.
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Projects teams to integrate environmental requirements into day‑to‑day activities and new developments.
- Provide engineering advice on process modifications, spill prevention practices, waste handling, and pollution control measures.
- Ensure environmental safeguards such as effluent treatment, emission controls, and secondary containment systems are reflected in engineering designs.
