MAIN OBJECTIVES

Manager Aircraft Structure and Interiors is accountable to Senior Manager Engineering for the effective management of the Structures & Interiors Engineering group, providing technical support and development for aircraft structures and cabin interior in accordance with the duties and responsibilities specified herein.

MAIN DUTIES
  • 1. Allocate staff and review their responses to Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, Technical Follow Ups, where applicable to aircraft structures and cabin interiors, as required by Air Navigation Technical Regulation (ANTR) Part M.301 (7), M.302 (a) and M.303.
  • 2. Ensure staff performance and their activities in accordance with the procedures established in compliance with ANTR M.704(a)(7) and that they are continually amended and updated to reflect current practice and any new regulatory requirements.
  • 3. Ensure the structures and interiors group promptly carry out their responsibilities in respect of Service Bulletins, Service Letters, Technical Follow Ups etc in accordance with the embodiment policy established in accordance with ANTR M. 301(7).
  • 4. Liaise with aircraft, component and system manufacturers to explore opportunities for enhancements/improvements to the technical performance of in-service equipment.
  • 5. The provision of technical representation and technical information exchange on behalf of Gulf Air engineering at industry symposiums/conferences, vendor meetings and third party organizations as required.
  • 6. Ensure that an adequate number of properly qualified staff are recruited and retained for all key job positions and that those job roles are clearly defined as required by ANTR M.706(g).
  • 7. Ensure that appropriate training is provided and that it is properly recorded for all staff involved in the aircraft continuing airworthiness functions or related activities as required by ANTR M. 706(h).
  • 8. Any corrective action relevant to his area, resulting from the quality audit programme, in accordance with ANTR M. 712.
  • 9. Ensure that the CAME & TIM procedures pertaining to the activities of areas under his/her control is continually amended and updated to reflect current practice and take account of any new airworthiness requirements.
  • 10. Ensure that the modifications embodiment policy is in accordance with ANTR M.301(7) and GF CAME procedures.
  • 11. Assess and recommend proposed changes to the Approved Aircraft Maintenance Programme related to the aircraft structures & cabin interiors, for which his staff are responsible.
  • 12. Direct all non OEM modification Engineering Development activities to ensure timescales, specifications and budget constraints are met.
  • 13. Select suitable approved external Part 21 Design Organizations to assist Gulf Air with design tasks.
  • 14. Ensure that Gulf Air aircraft structural damage and repair records are maintained in accordance with AMTR M.304.
  • 15. Discharge position responsibilities and duties in such a manner that defined performance and achievement goals can be satisfied.
  • 16. Undertake periodic staff performance appraisals in association with the SME.
  • 17. Responsible for subordinates KPIs and required to complete all stages of performance management system.
EDUCATIONS AND TRAINING

A relevant engineering degree or an aircraft maintenance qualification with additional education acceptable to the BCAA. ‘relevant engineering degree’ means an engineering degree from aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionic or other studies relevant to the maintenance and continuing airworthiness of aircraft/aircraft components.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 7 years airline technical experience of which 4 years should be in an aircraft structure / interiors discipline.
