The Role
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of some of Yellow Door Energy's largest and most complex commercial and industrial (C&I) energy projects in Bahrain. You will be based in Manama as part of our Project Execution team. You will take end-to-end accountability for safe delivery, programme, budget, quality, contractor performance and stakeholder management, from pre-construction and EPC mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
These projects are significantly larger in scale and capital value than a typical C&I installation, with technical, contractual and stakeholder complexity to match.
The role combines office-based work with regular time on site and close client interaction. You will need to be as effective leading a progress review with an EPC contractor as you are presenting project performance to senior leadership.
This role suits an experienced project leader who can take ownership of complex delivery, lead multidisciplinary teams and EPC partners, and keep clear control of programme, cost, risk and contractual performance.
What You'll Deliver & Own Planning and mobilisation- Lead the project execution plan, covering scope, work breakdown structure, programme, resources, procurement interfaces and key milestones.
- Provide constructability, cost and schedule input during pre-construction, and take part in EPC and major subcontractor evaluation and negotiations.
- Coordinate design readiness, permitting, grid connection and authority requirements so projects mobilise on time.
- Set up project governance, reporting, document control and a live risk and issue register before construction begins.
- Lead EPC contractor performance through structured progress reviews, look-ahead planning and timely issue resolution.
- Manage programme, budget, cost forecasting and variance, taking corrective action when performance moves away from plan.
- Control scope and change, assessing programme, cost, contractual and technical impacts before changes are approved.
- Work with YDE's Technical team on design reviews, ensuring engineering decisions support constructability and programme.
- Drive QA/QC, inspections, testing and mechanical completion, with visible QHSSE leadership throughout.
- Act as YDE's senior project interface with clients, EPC contractors, consultants, suppliers, authorities and utilities.
- Manage variations, claims, notices, payment-related delivery inputs and contractor performance issues, escalating material matters where needed.
- Lead the multidisciplinary project team, and coach Project Managers, Site Engineers and other team members to promote consistent execution practice.
- Report clearly to senior leadership on schedule, cost, quality, HSE, commercial and stakeholder risks.
- Plan and coordinate commissioning, performance testing and authority or grid acceptance.
- Lead punch-list closure, PAC/FAC and Defects Liability Period requirements, and formal handover to Asset Management and O&M.
- Run post-project reviews and feed lessons learned into future project planning.
- A bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- At least 10 years' project management experience in construction, EPC, renewable energy or power infrastructure.
- A track record of leading major renewable energy, power or infrastructure projects through construction, commissioning and handover.
- Experience managing EPC contractors, multidisciplinary teams, project controls and complex stakeholder interfaces.
- Sound commercial and contractual judgement across variations, claims, change control, budgets and delivery risk.
- Technical understanding of solar PV and grid-connected energy projects, sufficient to challenge and coordinate engineering outputs from a delivery and constructability perspective.
- Experience working with utilities and authorities in the GCC or a comparable multi-stakeholder regulatory environment.
- Experience working effectively in a multinational, matrix organisation.
- PMP, IPMA or PRINCE2 certification.
- Experience with BESS, hybrid energy or complex grid-interconnection projects.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
