Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities Operational Support
- Provide L2 support for network infrastructure (routers, switches, WAN/LAN & firewalls)
- Monitor network performance and ensure uptime and availability. Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests
- Perform incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA)
- VLANs, ACLs, QoS policies
- Routing protocol configurations
- Interface configurations and link setup
- Implement and manage firewall policies, NAT rules, VPN configurations
- Handle change requests as per ITIL processes
- Perform firmware upgrades, patches, and system maintenance
- Ensure compliance with security policies and standards
- Monitor and manage threat logs, IPS/IDS, antivirus, web filtering features
- Assist in audit and vulnerability remediation activities
- Diagnose network issues related to Routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP – basic/intermediate)
- Switching (VLAN, STP, RSTP/MSTP, trunking)
- IP addressing and subnetting
- Routing (Static, OSPF, BGP – basic level)
- VPNs (IPSec, SSL VPN)
- High Availability (HA clusters)
- Firewall performance and traffic flow
- Maintain detailed documentation for configurations and incidents
- Prepare daily/weekly reports on incidents and firewall health
- Hands-on experience with Huawei routers, switches and Fortinet Forti Gate firewalls
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing concepts
- Strong understanding of OSI model
- Strong understanding of Routing protocols: OSPF, IS-IS, BGP (basics)
- Strong understanding of Switching: VLAN, STP/MSTP, QinQ, VLAN tagging
- Strong understanding of High availability: VRRP, Eth-Trunk
- Strong understanding of Firewall policies & NAT
- Strong understanding of VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL)
- Strong understanding of High Availability (HA)
- Basic knowledge of network protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS)
- Huawei eSight / NMS tools
- CLI-based device management
- FortiOS
- CLI and GUI configuration
- Ticketing tools (Service Desk plus.)
