Job Description:
Network Operations & Support Engineer (L2 Support)
Exp: 7-9 years
Role OverviewProvide L2 support for network infrastructure (routers, switches, WAN/LAN & firewalls).
Monitor network performance and ensure uptime and availability. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining Fortinet firewall and Huawei routers, switches environments, ensuring high availability, security compliance, troubleshooting, and management of network security infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Operational Support- Provide L2 support for network infrastructure (routers, switches, WAN/LAN & firewalls)
- Monitor network performance and ensure uptime and availability. Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests
- Perform incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA)
- Routing protocol configurations
- Interface configurations and link setup
- Implement and manage firewall policies, NAT rules, VPN configurations
- Handle change requests as per ITIL processes
- Perform firmware upgrades, patches, and system maintenance
- Ensure compliance with security policies and standards
- Monitor and manage threat logs, IPS/IDS, antivirus, web filtering features
- Assist in audit and vulnerability remediation activities
- Diagnose network issues related to:
- Routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP – basic/intermediate)
- Switching (VLAN, STP, RSTP/MSTP, trunking)
- IP addressing and subnetting
- Routing (Static, OSPF, BGP – basic level)
- VPNs (IPSec, SSL VPN)
- High Availability (HA clusters)
- Firewall performance and traffic flow
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed documentation for configurations and incidents
- Prepare daily/weekly reports on incidents and firewall health
- Hands-on experience with Huawei routers, switches and Fortinet Forti Gate firewalls
- Strong understanding of:
- TCP/IP, subnetting, routing concepts
- OSI model
- Routing protocols: OSPF, IS-IS, BGP (basics)
- High availability: VRRP, Eth-Trunk
- Firewall policies & NAT
- VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL)
- High Availability (HA)
- Basic knowledge of network protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS)
