Job Summary

The Assistant Purchaser will support the purchasing team in sourcing products, coordinating with suppliers, preparing purchase orders, monitoring stock requirements, and ensuring timely availability of products at competitive prices. The role requires good coordination with suppliers, warehouse, and operations teams to maintain smooth procurement activities.

Reports To:

Purchasing Manager / Senior Buyer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and processing purchase orders based on stock requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, promotions, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain supplier records, quotations, and purchase documentation.
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of ordered items.
  • Support price comparison and supplier negotiations to achieve competitive purchasing rates.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with stores/warehouse for replenishment requirements.
  • Assist in product sourcing and identifying new suppliers/products.
  • Verify supplier invoices, delivery notes, and purchase-related documents.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and update system entries.
  • Coordinate with accounts department regarding supplier invoices and payments.
  • Assist in handling supplier issues related to shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
  • Prepare purchasing reports and provide updates to the Purchasing Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and policies.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in purchasing/procurement (retail/FMCG experience preferred).
  • Good knowledge of suppliers, products, and market prices.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills (MS Excel, Word, and ERP systems).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good English communication skills;
    Arabic knowledge is an advantage.
