Position
Road Freight OPS Team Leader – Bahrain
Job PurposeCoordinate network & transport planning/design operations plans and processes to provide fast, reliable, efficient and affordable transportation/shipment of goods from origin to destination, meeting customer and market‑specific requirements in line with the business strategy, corporate guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities- Ensure policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
- Set day‑to‑day operational objectives for the team.
- Coordinate plans and processes for transport operations.
- Coach and guide the team for execution of day‑to‑day tasks and activities to meet work schedules and targets.
- Execute transport activities including safe operations of machines and equipment, and warehouse and distribution activities such as receive, handle, store, record and dispatch goods.
- Draft route plans and load schedules, maximize consolidation levels in the service area, choose appropriate transportation, modify and communicate plans as per scheduling changes.
- Closely follow up for critical material transportation and special deliveries, establish emergency plans and coordinate customs processes if required.
- Define and record resources and movements on the transport planning system.
- Track performance of the subcontractors against set standards.
- Manage the carrier network for specific traffic region and achieve consistency of carrier service with defined standards and compliance with pallet and claim policies.
- Track delivery exceptions from the carriers and report back to principal and/or customer service team.
- Examine and resolve customer service issues and exceptions, and prepare, process and distribute required customer reports accurately and on time.
- Participate in development and completion of transportation and traffic project activities such as transportation service analysis and consolidation studies.
- Achieve adherence to operating, environmental and safety procedures and standards through training and communication.
- Report financial, operational and customer information to improve overall network performance and cost management.
- Highlight issues and opportunities, and execute better transport operations methods and techniques focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency, and controlling costs.
- Understand customer and key stakeholders interests and concerns and advise direct reports, customers and key stakeholders.
- Regular contact with other specialist departments.
- Cooperate with 3rd parties e.g. external service providers.
- Education Level: Bachelors Degree.
- Experience:
More than 2 years.
