Park Laborer

Overview

The list of duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. • Provides a high level of customer service to all park users.
• Assists with park rentals; provides signage; ensures facility cleanliness and safety.
• Performs turf, landscape, tree, trail, and playground maintenance tasks.
• Conducts routine park checks and cleaning of park bathrooms and facilities; provides snow removal support as needed.
• Assists with the opening and closing (as applicable) of park gates every day of the week.
• Available for call in, especially to support snow removal, tree removal, and/or any urgent task as deemed by the Park Manager.
• Operates a wide array of equipment; ability to operate truck, trailer, mowers, and specialized equipment.

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of park rules/regulations.
• Ability to provide top-flight customer service, including conflict management.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to travel within the City in order to conduct city business.
• Skilled in applying independent judgment, personal discretion, and resourcefulness in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain good personal relations with city employees and the public.
• Knowledge of power/hand tools and ability to troubleshoot different job tasks.
• Knowledge of maintaining mowers, line trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, etc.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous park maintenance and mowing experience preferred.
