Overview

Assistant Coach - Varsity Goalkeeper – Boys’ Soccer (HS) for the  season. Reports to Head Coach/Athletic Director. Salary: stipend of $2,800.00.

Hours:

to be set in conjunction with the Varsity Coach and the Athletic Director.

• Instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategies, and physical training to support both individual and team success.
• Instruct participants on personal hygiene and safety procedures; ensure injuries are reported to the coach and/or trainer immediately.
• Foster appreciation of athletic values, sportsmanship, and pride in self, team, school, and community among participants and spectators.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment and assist with performance records for individuals and teams.
• Convey team, local school, and MPCS policies to all participants; ensure compliance with Virginia High School League rules, regional and district councils, and MPCS.
• Submit required forms (eligibility rosters, addresses, etc.) to meet requirements of the Virginia High School League, School Board, local school, and MPCS.
• Follow School Activity Funds Manual and local school policies for financial transactions; establish procedures for communicating with parents/guardians; inform students about athletic programs and encourage participation.
• Assist Head Coach with public relations and information about athletic programs; handle injury situations appropriately; ensure first aid kits and emergency care cards are available.
• Inspect facilities, equipment, and environmental conditions to ensure participant safety; participate in professional growth and school procedures for awards.
• Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and assist other personnel as needed to ensure an efficient work environment.

• MPCS staff preferred.
• Knowledge and background in the assigned sport; previous coaching experience in the sport is desirable.

• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and the public; physical capability to use office equipment and perform typical duties. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions may be required.
• Must meet all clearance requirements:
  Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance and Tuberculosis Screening.
• Ability to implement appropriate procedures for injuries and maintain a safe environment.
