The City of Manassas is an independent city located approximately thirty (30) miles west of Washington, D.C. in the dynamic and growing Washington Metropolitan area. Manassas, with its strategic location, provides businesses with a key advantage for doing business in a global market. A well developed transportation network of roads, air, rail, and public commuter service links Manassas to major U.S. markets.

The City’s close proximity to two major interstates, I-66 and I-95, connects businesses to their target destinations in a timely and cost-effective manner. Domestic and International travel is accessible through two commercial airports and the City’s own Manassas Regional Airport. Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan National Airport are within thirty (30) minutes of the City and provide low cost carrier service to major gateway cities and international markets.

Residents and commuters are also served by the Virginia Rail Express, a light commuter rail, providing invaluable daily transit to Washington and Amtrak rail service providing connections to anywhere in the country.

Manassas, originally a railroad town, is situated between the Bull Run Mountains and the Potomac River and is home to rich American history dating back to the First Battle of Bull Run that was fought on its soil. Incorporated as an independent city in 1975, Manassas has seen increasing popularity in recent years due to its suburban lifestyle, historic charm, and proximity to the Washington, D.C. area.

The City offers five elementary, one middle, two intermediate and one high school. In addition, the City is served by nearly a dozen quality private schools.

Additionally, Manassas is home to vast opportunities for higher education learning. Northern Virginia Community College is the largest public educational institute in Virginia and the second largest community college in the United States, offering over 160 degrees at the Associates’ level as well as certificate programs. Major universities in close proximity to Manassas include George Mason University, a premier college in Virginia;
Georgetown University, Howard University, The George Washington University, and American University, four prestigious private institutions located in Washington, D.C just thirty miles away; and an additional twenty (20) colleges and universities that are within one hour’s drive from Manassas.

In addition to Prince William Medical Center, Manassas’ residents have access to twelve local and national hospitals in Northern Virginia and the metropolitan area. A short drive to Washington D.C. provides access to additional facilities such as George Washington University Hospital, Washington Hospital Center and Children’s National Medical Center.

The highly populated, diverse and historic location of Manassas has provided the City with a host of year round activities, events, festivals, recreational ventures, and productions within the City and surrounding area of Northern Virginia. The City boasts over 300 acres of parks, six historic sites, the Manassas Museum and newly opened Manassas Community Center. The City jointly funds the Hylton Performing Arts Center and the Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Additionally, Prince William National Forest provides 17,000 acres for year-round hiking and camping.

The Manassas area includes endless locations to shop, dine, or enjoy entertainment, as well as historic Washington, D.C. within a short drive.
