EL Teacher

Prince William County Public Schools is inviting applications for an English Language (EL) Teacher position at Minnieville Elementary School for the  school year.

Job Summary: This position accelerates the learning or acquisition of English for English language learners (ELLs) and the academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies. The role provides cross-cultural information about the American school system and serves as a liaison between the LEP student and all his/her classroom teachers and their families and the school.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of second language acquisition and acculturation processes
• Knowledge of research, legal requirements, program models, and methodological approaches specific to multilingual learners
• Knowledge of techniques for teaching English, reading, and content to multilingual learners
• Knowledge of approved assessments used for program placement and monitoring of student achievement
• Native or near-native proficiency in all the skills of understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in English is required

Education: Bachelor's Degree and possession of a collegiate professional, postgraduate professional, or appropriate vocational certificate/license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with endorsement in ESL.
